Membership & Store Terms
You're dealing with one person, not a department. These terms cover the Everything All-Access Pass, your membership, and selling your own work on the network. Written plain, because the deal is simple and I'm the only one here keeping score. If your situation needs a lawyer, bring one. This is the version I'll hold myself to.
Hiring me to build or host a site? That work runs under the Build & Hosting Terms instead.
The short version
Before you scroll past the fine print
You pay for a year, you get every book, field guide, course and record I sell, plus the members vault. Software tools are sold separately, and the full list of what is not included is below. It renews yearly until you cancel, which you do yourself from the members area, no email required. Cancel and you keep access through what you paid for, and your downloads are yours forever. Buy at a launch rate and that rate is grandfathered for as long as you keep the pass. If you bought the Everything Bundle during the launch window, or were a paid Founding member, you were comped for life and never pay. Don't resell my work, and if anything goes wrong, email me: contact@nicheof.one.
1. Who you're dealing with
The seller is J.D. Forrest, operating as Niche of One, an independent media operation based in the United States. Subscriptions are billed by Stripe and one-time products are sold through Gumroad; either way your card details go to the processor, never to me or my servers. Questions go to contact@nicheof.one. You're emailing me, not a department.
1a. How old you have to be
You have to be 16 or older to sign up. Not because I think teenagers can't read. It's because this is a one-person operation with a community in it, and I'm not equipped to look after kids online. Nobody should be. If you're under 16, read the free stuff all you like; just don't make an account.
If I find out an account belongs to someone under 16, I close it and delete what's on it. That's not a punishment, it's the only honest thing to do. If you're a parent and you think your kid signed up, email me at contact@nicheof.one and I'll take care of it the same day.
2. What your membership includes
One paid door. A free one that costs nothing and never expires.
Free, $0. An email gets you an account and a handle. That includes:
- The full Underground community, the main wall, and every topic room.
- Direct messages and the member directory.
- The daily brief, the Sunday dispatch, and every Field Guide.
No card, and nothing here expires if you never pay me anything.
All-Access Pass, $37/yr. The one paid membership. It adds:
- Every book, field guide, course and record I sell on my own store, current and future, downloadable to keep.
- The house music catalog, downloadable to keep. Not every track on the station is cleared for download: guest artists' work streams only, by agreement with them, and a few house sets stay on the air.
- The high-fidelity radio stream.
- The Academy: every course and the full lesson bodies.
- 25% off any of my bundles.
- First access to drops, experiments and short runs.
Access lasts while you're subscribed. Anything you download is yours to keep, subscribed or not.
The Pass does not include: software tools, meaning programs you run yourself rather than read, which are sold separately and priced separately; other makers' products in the Mall or the recommended shops; Amazon items; affiliate products of any kind; physical goods unless a listing says so; client work; or one-off commissions. If I didn't make it and sell it on my own shelf, it isn't in your membership.
If you already hold the Pass, you keep what you already have. The software-tool carve-out started on 10 August 2026 and applies to what I release from that date. Anything that had already landed in your library under the old wording stays yours, and the same goes for anyone holding the Everything Bundle.
3. Billing, renewal, and cancellation
The pass is a yearly subscription billed by Stripe. It renews automatically each year until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from the members area: open Settings, click "Manage or cancel," and the billing portal handles the rest. Cancellation stops future charges and your access continues through the end of the period you already paid for.
Promotional launch rates are grandfathered. If you subscribe at a promotional rate (like the day-one price), that rate stays yours at every renewal for as long as your subscription stays active and in good standing. Cancel or lapse and later resubscribe, and you pay the then-current door price.
A failed renewal charge, refund, or chargeback ends pass access. Anything you already downloaded stays yours.
4. The grandfather clause
This one's load-bearing, so it goes in writing: anyone who bought the Everything Bundle during the launch window, on or before July 4, 2026, or who was a paid Founding member of my newsletter as of that date, earned complimentary access to everything the All-Access Pass opens. That window has closed. Buying the bundle now does not carry the Pass, and it never will again. If you were one of those launch-window buyers or Founding members, that access does not turn itself on, but there is no deadline on switching it on. Sign in at nicheof.one with your purchase email and the magic link does it. Whenever you get around to that, it's yours for good, no charge, ever, for as long as I keep the lights on. I set a claim-by date once and then dropped it on 2026-08-02: you earned this, and how fast you got to your inbox is not the test. This access is tied to your purchase email and is not transferable or resellable.
5. Your license to the work
Everything you get through the pass or the store is licensed to you, personally. That means:
- Downloads are yours to keep forever, including after you cancel.
- Use them yourself, on any of your own devices. Quote short passages with credit, that's fine and encouraged.
- Don't resell, redistribute, repost publicly, share your member login, or upload my work to file-sharing sites or AI training datasets.
- The music is for personal listening. Commercial use, sync, or sampling needs my written okay first. Email me; I'm easy to reach and historically reasonable.
I keep the copyright to everything. Abusing the license, sharing accounts, scraping the vault, reselling, gets your access revoked without refund. I built the gate myself, so I will notice.
6. All sales are final
No returns counter. One exception, named below.
This isn't a store with a loading dock and a shelf to put things back on. Everything here is digital. You pay, the file lands, and you've already got it, which is also the moment you agreed to take delivery. That's the deal, and it's a good one, because what you bought doesn't spoil and nobody's asking for it back.
If something's broken on my end, a file that won't open, a download that never arrived, a key the door won't take, email me and I'll fix the actual problem. That I'll always do. What I won't do is refund a download you already have.
One exception, and it is not a download. Advertising and sponsorships are a service, and a service that has not run yet has not been delivered. If you have bought a placement and it has not gone up, ask and the money comes back. If I turn your ad down after you have paid, you get it back the same day and I tell you why. Once a placement has actually run, it has run. That is the same promise the advertising page makes, and the two say the same thing on purpose.
On a run that spans several days or several sends, everything that has already gone out is delivered and stays delivered. What happens to the rest depends on who stopped it. If I stop the run early, or I cannot deliver the remainder for any reason, the part that never ran comes back to you, worked out pro rata. If you change your mind partway through, it does not, because booking held that slot exclusively and nobody else could buy those days. If a placement goes up wrong, the wrong link, the wrong slot, copy I mangled, that is my mistake: I run it again properly, and if it cannot be put right you get your money back.
What I can never refund is a result. Any numbers I quote for a surface are a record of what it has already done, measured and published. Nobody can sell you next month's. You are buying the slot and the run, and the slot and the run are what I guarantee.
The Everything Bundle is half a download and half a promise, so it is worth saying which half is which. Everything currently in it lands the moment you pay, and that part is final like anything else here. The rest of it, everything I add later, has not been made yet. You are buying a standing entitlement to it at a price that never goes up, not a delivery date, and section 8 below is the honest limit on that: I don't promise a schedule, a volume, or that any particular future thing gets made. If I stopped tomorrow, everything you had already downloaded would stay yours and nothing further would be owed. That is the deal in both directions, and I would rather you read it here than work it out later.
Two more that are not downloads either. Made-to-order work, like a produced audio spot, is yours to cancel for a full refund up until I start writing it; once the finished file is with you it is delivered like anything else here. And the All-Access Pass is a yearly subscription rather than a purchase, so it follows section 3 above: cancel any time, access runs to the end of the period you paid for, and anything you downloaded while you were in stays yours.
7. When you sell on the network
You make the money. You own the sale, including the messy parts.
Members can sell their own posts from their own space. When you do, you are the seller, full stop. You set the price, you deliver the work, and the payment runs through Stripe straight into your own connected account, never through mine. Niche of One is the storefront and the plumbing. I give you the tools and the payment rail and I take no platform fee at all, not on a paid unlock and not on a tip. The only deduction is Stripe’s own processing fee, which they take before the money reaches you, and which every platform on earth pays. I am not the seller of your work, and your buyers' money never lands in my hands on the way to you.
Because you're the seller, the whole sale is yours, including the parts nobody likes. You handle your own buyers. You deliver what they paid for, you answer their questions, and you deal with any refund request, dispute, or chargeback yourself. A chargeback comes out of your account plus the processor's fee, exactly like it would in any shop you ran on your own. Price it and write it with that in mind.
I don't refund, and I don't reimburse. Not the buyer, not the seller, not for a sale between two people where all I did was hand you the counter to sell from. Every sale on this network is digital and final, the same as section 6 says for mine. I take nothing from the sale, so there is nothing of mine to refund. If a buyer of your work brings it to me, I'll send them back to you, because you're who they bought from.
Keep it clean. Sell your own work, deliver what you promise, and don't use your space for anything illegal or anything that drags the rest of the network into it. I can close a space that does. A closed space stops taking new sales, and its buyers keep what they already paid for. I built the gate myself, so I will notice.
8. What I don't promise
The catalog and the vault are provided as-is. I plan to keep making things at the pace I always have, and the whole pitch is that profit goes back into the work, but I don't guarantee a release schedule, a volume of output, or that any particular future thing gets made. If I ever stop entirely, your downloads stay yours and your renewal simply stops mattering. The downside has a floor.
9. Access mechanics
Member sign-in works by a magic link sent to the email you checked out with; there are no passwords. That address is your membership, so keep it current. If you change emails, write me and I'll move it.
10. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms as the operation grows. Material changes get announced in the newsletter and the feed, not buried. Once you've claimed your founder access under section 4, I don't walk it back; that promise holds for as long as this operation runs. Continuing to renew after a change means you accept it.
11. Liability, plain
To the maximum extent the law allows: everything here is provided as-is, without warranties, and my total liability to you is capped at what you paid me in the twelve months before the claim. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. If something goes wrong, email me before anything else. I answer my own email, and nearly everything is fixable in one exchange.
